Welcome to Eshott Heugh Bed and Breakfast
A 4 star farmhouse bed and breakfast conveniently located 1 mile from the main A1 trunk road. With 3 recently re-decorated and comfortable bedrooms all with en-suite shower rooms, a guest lounge with an open fire, and a separate bathroom with cast iron free standing bath. There are also attractive gardens, woodland and footpaths to explore.
Breakfast is served in the guest lounge/dining room overlooking the garden. We offer a selection of cereal, yoghurt and toast and an Aga cooked breakfast using good quality local ingredients including sausage and bacon from local butchers. Eggs come from our own free range hens, we often have eggs for sale so be sure to ask!
The house is in a perfect location for both business and tourist travellers. Accessed directly from the A1, the house is at the end of its own mile long drive. At 100 miles south of Edinburgh and 27 miles north of Newcastle it is a good location for those needing a stop off, but is also perfectly located if you are planning to spend a few days exploring Northumberland. Northumberland has much to offer the tourist, from the unspoilt coast with miles of beaches and cliffs, to castles, country houses and gardens, Hadrians Wall and Northumberland National Park. We are perfectly located for visits to Alnwick Castle & Gardens, Cragside Estate, The Farne Islands, Holy Island, Craster & Dunstanburgh Castle to name but a few. We are also within a few miles of Eshott Hall and Linden Hall, both popular wedding venues.
The neighbouring stone farm buildings have been converted into delightful artists' workshops and shops. There is a friendly coffee shop open seven days a week and Coquet Valley Preserves who supply our jam and marmalade are located on site, as is Studley Cottage Soaps who provide us with traditional hand made soap. The coffee shop is open from 8am and will make up a packed lunch on request. A small former wartime airfield, Eshott Airfield, is located just to the north. During World War II training on Spitfires was carried out there. Eshott Airfield is now used by recreational microlights and small light aircraft. It has both tarmac and grass runways and is also known as Bockenfield Aerodrome.
Rooms
We have three rooms; one double, one twin and one single. The rooms were all redecorated in Spring 2009 to a high standard. Each room has an en-suite shower room, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary hot chocolate and biscuits, a hairdryer, radio alarm clock and a complimentary soap from Studley Cottage Soaps (who are based on site in the converted farm buildings).
